- on the fourth Sunday of each month: taking of the refuges and precepts. Taking refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha is an ancient, traditional Buddhist practice, reminding us of the peaceful effects of awakening, of the teachings, and of the community in our lives. And committing to the Five Training Precepts (not harming others, not taking that which is not offered, not harming others with our sexuality, not harming others with our speech, and not harming by the use of drugs and alcohol) is a practice which many lay Buddhists take on as part of their training. The fourth Sunday of each month will provide an opportunity to do this in a formal way in our community.
Sundays, 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Santa Cruz Dharma Punx is an alternative weekly mind-body awareness Vipassana based Meditation Group which uses present time awareness with a mix of spiritual beliefs in a half-hour sitting followed by a half-hour discussion. All ages welcome.
Our sangha teachers are Jason Murphy & Noah Levine plus other guests teachers. This is not your parents boring old meditation group - this is dharma with a twist. We are a part of the "Dharma Punx" meditation groups nationwide.
