Ongoing Sangha Service Opportunities
Volunteer at the Center
For many of us, serving our sangha by supporting its many programs and activities has become an integral part of our practice. If you are interested in donating your time, energy, and skills to our center, please fill out this form.
Prison Project
Every Tuesday, Buddhist meditation and dharma groups meet with prisoners at Salinas Valley State Prison and the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad, CA. Click here for more information.
Homeless Shelter Donations
We have a basket available every Thursday night for the homeless shelter. Items needed include toiletry items, clothing and whatever else you think would be useful.
Prison Project Newsletter
The volunteer Buddhist chaplains (from VSC and IMC) have started a newsletter for the sangha (community) that includes both the "inside" sanghas of inmates and the "outside" sanghas of people who are interested in and supportive of Buddhist meditation programs in the prisons. Vipassana Santa Cruz members are invited to participate in this project by submitting artwork or writing to this newsletter. Click here for more information.
Prison Pen Pal Project
We match up a Buddhist practitioner with a prisoner who is attending the prison sangha to correspond about life and dharma. This is a great opportunity for practice. We ask that you have been practicing at least six months. Correspondence is handled through a common PO Box to protect the privacy of participants. For more information email .
