Vipassana Santa Cruz has an ombudsperson. What’s that? An organizational ombudsperson is a confidential and informal information resource, communications channel, complaint-handler, and dispute-resolver, and a person who helps an organization work for change.
Our ombudsperson is Heidi Renteria, who welcomes you to call her at (831) 458-9039 to discuss any problem or situation within the sangha in which you feel values of fairness and respect are not demonstrated in words and deeds. These may include conflicts or difficult situations within the group or with teachers, the board, or others related to the sangha. Such conversations with the ombudsperson are kept completely confidential.
As we walk upon the journey of life, unexpected things happen and we may need the help and support of our community
The Caring for our Sangha group of volunteers seeks to provide support to our community members who are experiencing health or other life challenges.
Our volunteers consider service as a way of bringing practice from the cushion to caring and are exploring the sacred mystery of giving and receiving.
We can offer up to one-hour per week. If more services are needed, we may utilize a pool of volunteers if available. We are unable to offer nursing and personal care.
This support may include:
- Home visits
- Sitting together
- Errands
- Meals
- Rides to and from sittings
- Other simple tasks
To request a volunteer, please contact our Caring for Our Sangha Coordinator, (email) or by phone at (831) 722-4584.
See it in action on the home page.
